Ontañón Contrebia Tempranillo Blanco 2024, DOCa Rioja, Spain

Tempranillo Blanco is a natural mutation of Tempranillo, discovered in Rioja Oriental in the late 1980s. Some can be very overtly fruity and almost tropical, but this example from Ontañón is an elegant style, with yellow apple and ripe lemon zest. Unoaked with a touch of lees ageing, it shows the true dynamism of this fantastic region.
